Marchesa is a fairly new brand:
It was established in 2004 by Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig. The two met in London while in college at Chelsea College of Art and Design. They teamed up and combined their draping and textile abilities creatign what is now known as Marchesa.
The inspiration for the brand is based on Marchesa Luisa Casati. She was an Italian socialite who was known to be quite controversial. She lived an extravagant life including things such as nude male survants guilded in gold, cheetas on diamond leashes, wearing live snakes as jewelry, and much more.
