My Urge To Abandon Society and It's Clutter

Sometimes I have the urge to abandon all of the material things that clutter our lives and the social media that warps our perception of what normal and abnormal is and just go off somewhere on the other side of the world and live a simple life. Somewhere in the mediterranean maybe, living off of the land in nature away from all of the material clutter we cloud ourselves in.

So much social media, music video's, magazines, TV shows, celebrities, and models are being thrown at us telling us what we should look like, sound like, and act like. It's exhausting, because as much as you know it is all fake and they are just as human and flawed as you are, it still affects you whether you want it to or not in some way or another. I feel so conflicted sometimes, but how can you not?

This is where I would go, Sicily!

Busy Day-Cute Project

Well its been a busy week(more like month) but I finally finished yet another project, and this one turned out a little cuter than I expected.

So it started off with felted wool that I had clamped and dyed 3 times...

Then, I cut the wool into pieces and embroidered them using the blanket stitch and used colored beads for embellishment.

And lastly, I glued some colored feathers down and gave this owl some eyes! She turned out a little cuter than I expected so it made this project one of the more rewarding ones haha!

A Little About Me

So this blog is for one of my classes and I am supposed to include a little something about myself...

I am a student at MTSU majoring in Fashion Merchandising. I work in retail and absolutely love fashion and art! My mom is a huge inspiration for me. MY family is very artistic, however she is the main reason I love fashion and art so much. Here are two of my mom's beautiful paintings she has finished recently.

I love traveling. These are a few pictures of my visit to the Florida Keys, where my brother and sister-in-law live.

I am also a huge animal lover. Here are some of my babies.

Nashville Fashion Week-Kelly Cutrone!

So I finally got to experience a little bit of Nashville Fashion Week when I went to see Kelly Cutrone at the Belcourt Theatre on Friday. Seeing Kelly Cutrone and hearing her speak was well worth my twenty dollars for the ticket! The event was held at the quaint Belcourt Theatre near downtown Nashville. I only expected it to last for about an hour, but instead it was a good 2 or so hours. Kelly kept going until she ran out of time, and stated a number of times that she wanted us to get our twenty dollars worth. Hearing Kelly speak left me with a much different impression than I had from watching her on The Hills. She was very kind, funny, honest, and deep. Hearing about her many experiences throughout her life, and her wealth of knowledge about the fashion industry was a valuable experience I was able to take home with me. Here are a few pictures of my experience!
